Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is often asymptomatic during its early stages, which means that it can develop without showing any signs. Undergoing regular comprehensive eye exams is the best way to detect early-stage AMD.
For more information about AMD, please visit our Age-Related Macular Degeneration page.
Conjunctivitis, commonly known as “Pink Eye”, can be caused by viruses, bacteria, environmental factors, and chemicals. The cause of your conjunctivitis will determine how it is treated.
Infective conjunctivitis can be highly contagious, and may require medical treatment, so if you suspect that you have conjunctivitis, you should visit your optometrist as soon as possible.
Floaters are those little squiggles or shadows that seem to float around in front of your eye, and flashes occur when there is traction or pulling on your retinas, which your brain interprets as flashes of light. Most of the time flashes and floaters are no cause for alarm.
However, a sudden onset of flashes and/or floaters could indicate that you are experiencing a serious eye condition or disease. Contact West 10th Eyes right away at (604) 243-3761 or proceed to the nearest emergency room.
For more information about flashes and floaters, please visit our Flashes & Floaters page.
Glaucoma develops without exhibiting any symptoms, but can slowly rob you of your peripheral vision. To help prevent glaucoma-related vision loss, all comprehensive eye exams performed at West 10th Eyes include glaucoma testing.
