Conjunctivitis (Red Eye)

Our testing will accurately diagnose you. Our Optometrists can provide you a prescription for treatment (if required), as well as appropriate next steps.

A visit to our clinic is almost always faster than waiting at a walk-in clinic or emergency room.

Symptoms include:

• Itchy, scratchy eyes
• A burning sensation
• Excessive tearing
• Redness of the eye, eyelid, or surrounding tissue
• Sensitivity to light

Due to the varied causes of conjunctivitis, there are numerous treatment protocols:

• If the cause is bacterial, our Optometrist will prescribe antibiotics (typically as eye drops, though there are oral or topical alternatives).
• If the cause is viral, our Optometrist will provide options for management of the symptoms. However, the virus must run its course.
• If the cause is environmental, our Optometrist will help you identify what is causing your reaction so that you can remove the source. The symptoms should resolve with time.

Most forms of conjunctivitis can be quickly treated. There’s no need to suffer for any longer than you have to.
